Clarence "Pookie" Jenkins - Bass

Clarence  Clarence “Pookie” Jenkins, bass player from Berkeley CA, began playing  guitar in 6th grade and went on to the bass in  1972. Since High School he has played with many  Berkeley based bands; The Soul Impressions,  Masterpeace, and in his own band, In One Peace, with keyboardist Rodney Franklin. In One Peace  opened for Donny Hathaway and the Isley Brothers.  Clarence went on to play with Grateful Dead members Bob Weir and Phil Lesh. In the late 90’s he began touring internationally with the David Murray Octet, and while in France the group recorded “Speaking In Tongues” Featuring Fontella Bass. Having moved to the East Coast in 2011 Clarence plays and records with multiple bands in the DC area.
